faith fruit

"By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things."  Galatians 5:22-24
From the grapefruit tree that grew in the front yard when I was a little girl, to the U-Pick-'Em strawberry fields we visit around Mother's Day, to the heavenly aura of a North Carolina apple orchard, fruit has always been near and dear to me. So when somebody recently explained the fruit of the spirit and I was ripe to hear it, I was filled with wonderful food for thought and a new way to orient myself to life. Written about in one of Paul's phenomenal letters, these are the things that flow from being connected with God: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. When said 'fruit' hangs low on the tree and the picking is easy, it's a sure sign you're on the right path. You'll know by the juice trickling down your chin, the perfume there among the blossoms and in the pie that comes of it, a blessing meant to be shared.
